Patisserie
Down the stairs of our Kemptown store, you will find our talented pastry chefs meticulously crafting the delightful array of sweet confections that adorn our shelves. They whip up an impressive selection of around 400 delectable cakes and pastries each day.
Bakery
Our bread is baked right behind the rack on the shop floor, about the shortest trip from oven to shelf as you can get! A baker’s day starts at 3am (earlier on Saturdays) to make sure all our loaves are fresh as can be.
Savoury
Just a two minute stroll up the road from the Kemptown shop, all our savoury delights are cooked and delivered right to our shelves. Through the window you can see our chefs preparing sandwiches, quiche, sausage rolls, salads, party food, frittata and much more.
Jo’s
Dotted around our shop you may have noticed a rotating selection of Open Bakery biscuits, granolas and jams. Well Jo’s kitchen is where the magic happens! Beneath the savoury kitchen she cooks and packages all the home-made delights for your enjoyment.
Queen’s Park
Although small, the Queens Park location still manages to bake the croissants, pain au chocolat, sausage rolls and hot cross buns (when the season comes) on-site every day so you can be sure it’s as fresh as can be when you sip your coffee and take in the view.
Cookery School
We have a dedicated venue next to the savoury kitchen to host our cookery classes and workshops. Open Bakery bakers and chefs, as well as guest chefs share their skills in making everything from sourdough bread to macarons, to Swedish pastries. Check out the workshops and book here.
